Hey everyone and we are back for another round of StyleWatch to begin the month with. Statement pieces are accessories or clothings that have their own individuality and uniqueness. They contribute to completing a look or elevating it as well. This week’s StyleWatch revolves around personal style and a single piece of clothing or accessories used by the students of UMN to “own” and brings their whole look together. Without further ado, I present to you April’s First Week of StyleWatch!
KHOO HUI RU | YEAR 2 ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
I could not stop admiring Hui Ru’s ankle boots in class and how it worked perfectly with her outfit on Friday. Inspired by a bohemian cowgirl vibe, Hui Ru rocked her version of a minimalistic Wild West outfit. She paired her white sleeveless top with a white flowy loose vest together with a denim skirt that had detailed small ruffles on its edges. To top it all of with a pop of colour and wow factor: brown laced ankle boots from Camel Active. Those ankle boots were her statement boots and boy, did they scream “howdy partner”. With a touch of natural, light makeup, and a pair of silver hoops her look was sealed for deliverance.
Top and Vest: Padini
Boots: Camel Active
AISHWARYA ADAIKALARAJ | YEAR 2 ENGLISH WITH CREATIVE WRITING
Aish who is a familiar face to both StyleWatches and other Style articles, slays again by serving us a very hip hop meets comfy vibed outfit. And I quote her, “SOOOO COMFY HONESTLY but I still feel Badass”. Her statement piece: THRIFTED denim patchwork jeans that personally I feel are to die for. She mentioned getting them from a thrift store called OK GO for RM20! A real steal! The sweater with the really cool print on is by Mitski called “Be The Cowboy”. She mentioned it was one of the most expensive pieces of clothing she owns but one she cherishes fondly. She brings both the denim pants and sweater together with a pair of flats from Rubi that gave the look the texture and colour it needed.
Sweater: Mitski “BE THE COWBOY” bought online
Denim jeans: OK GO thrift store
Shoes: Rubi (bought through Zalora)
CHUA ROU EN (JOANN) | YEAR 2 ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE
And finally, featuring as our last StyleWatch for the week is none other than our Editor-In-Chief, Joann! Dressed to unwind and get away with her friends to Starbucks Semenyih, Joann wore a pastel dress she purchased from an online outlet and topped it off with a denim jacket to give it a more casual vibe. To add a pop of colour, she pairs her outfit with a pair of maroon sandals. She said her inspiration was the rainy day ahead, so she opted for something “simple and sweet”. She accessorised her outfit with silver earrings and a silver Casio watch. Both minimalistic and pastel, she definitely fits in with the cozy, cafe vibe on rainy days (cue for Paris in the Rain by Lauv).
Denim Jacket: thrifted from Family Bundle Ampang Waterfront
Dress: girlsootd__ (Instashop)
Earrings: laurelacc (Instashop)
And that’s a wrap for this week’s StyleWatch! Tune in to us next week for more Campus StyleWatch and Style articles.
